THE GREAT LIE

The greatest lie of all and sold so well by the corporate owned propaganda machine, is that Social Security is part of the debt, deficit or budget. It is not by law part of any of those three as it is funded totally by the taxes for Social Security. In fact as it stands it has a surplus and even without added revenue( the tax moratorium that recently stopped- made the revenue lower and the unemployment from being so high also meant less revenue) which will also get larger with fuller employment, is good until 2036 and at that time still capable with no added revenue to pay 75%.   All that is needed to avoid that is to eliminate the payroll ceiling.

As we pay taxes for the greater good, that does not mean that those that have high retirement income would be eligible for benefits, but would be eligible for Medicare with means tested premiums.  As to Medicare all that is needed is to allow for total negotiation of drug prices and medical devices and facility’s

Yet the corporate owned media, the GOP and now the president will tell you that we have to cut these ‘entitlement’ programs before they break the country.   Funny thing to note is that entitlement means that you earned those benefits, and yet somehow the propaganda machine has people thinking that entitlement is a bad thing, like it was ‘charity’ for the poor.  Its not and all should know that, since with your first check to your last you pay for both those programs.  There is enough money to cover everyone and with those ‘minor’ tweaks will work for generations to come.

I keep wondering when all Americans will wake up and see through the propaganda and unite together to reclaim our government from corporate interests. When people whose options I favored, say the same rhetoric we now hear from the president, and not just the pretenders of democracy – the GOP-I am truly afraid for our country.

REPEAT AFTER ME    THERE IS A SURPLUS IN THE SOCIAL SECURITY TRUST FUND   THE COST OF LIVING HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GOVERNMENTS BUDGET, DEFICIT OR DEBT AND MEDICARE AND SOCIAL SECURITY CAN EASILY BE MADE LONG TERM SUSTAINABLE.  THE ONLY PART OF MEDICARE THAT HAS REALLY IMPACTED THE RISING COSTS ARE THE ‘AMENDMENTS THAT PROHIBIT ANY NEGOTIATION WITH DRUG PRICES, MEDICAL DEVICES AND FACILITYS.

As always, thank you for the time it took to read this. Its so important that all people become aware of the true facts and unite together to stop this destruction of the one real protection that we the masses really have.

  1. You are correct in writing that Social Security has sufficient funds to provide full payout until 2036. The problem is that the federal government has borrowed those funds to spend on other things. Thus there are three issues. 1) The government does not want to live up to its promise regarding Social Security funding, 2) 2036 will be here in a flash – great for those who will die before that date – what about the future?, 3) The president needs a bargaining chip to find compromise with the GOP.

Sorry to say but the government IS NOT REQUIRED TO LIVE UP TO ITS PROMISES.

    1. You are wrong, the government is and can be made to live up to its promises. After 2036, if no new employment happens and the ceiling isn’t eliminated, then there are sufficient funds to pay 75% of all benefits. There is no reason to attack Social Security at all. What is not considered is the fact that in the next 23 years, we should expect that there will be more people working and that adds to the revenue. If we were to encourage retirement at 62, that would open the job market for the young to enter. We the people are the true government, we just forgot that. Sure, if we cower and hide behind the rhetoric of what can we do, we cant make the government do what we want, then nothing happens. Twice before in the history of our country the people have come together and used their very powerful voice to enact changes and to reclaim our government from corporate interests. We are the government and we can and will demand that our government honor their part of the contract that they signed with all americans from their first paycheck to there last one. Do you not consider that your ’employer’ must honor his agreement to pay you? Then why in the world would you consider anything less than that of the government? Call and email your rep and senator and call and email the whitehouse. Sign all those petitions and never ever stop using your voice. We are the new media and its up to us to counteract the corporate owned propaganda machine they call media. Its time to make the few elite and large corporations that have conspired to own our government to instead make them pay for their use of our infrastructure and education and its time for all countries to demand the same of all corporations and elite that make money in their countries. Why should we pay for the few to hoard the wealth of a nation? Why would you think they are more important than you? Sorry, but I get a little passionate about protecting two of the programs that are soley for the benefit of the masses. Please join myself and others in our fight to reclaim our government and secure the funding for our crumbling infrastructure and to keep secure SS and medicare for generations to come.
