Our government-the GOP/teaparty  has left for the year and did nothing about the expiring unemployment for millions of Americans that are unable to find work. Course the fact that there are not enough jobs for all that are unemployed doesn’t matter to our government. They are fond of saying that it makes people dependent if you help them, so see-we are doing you all a favor. They plan to gut SNAP when they come back-can’t have those hungry elderly, children, disabled and working poor eating-nope-instead they plan to increase the subsidies for the very richest of agriculture farms more than the cuts they plan to make for the poor that will now go hungry. They also would love to gut SS and Medicare and of course they plan to ‘vote to eliminate the ACA’ as soon as they get back to work.

Why? Why do they hate the American people so much, that they will purposely destroy our economy all to demonize the poor and unemployed in our country. Like I said Merry Christmas Americans from the party bent on destroying our government, our country and the people all to satisfy their owners- the few elite and large corporations.

I think that about says it all-

There is quite the uproar, fueled by our corporate owned media, about the min wage being raised. You will hear the argument that it will hurt the min wage worker, as it will increase prices and businesses will let people go. The truth is much different than that. History has proven that instead of raising prices and loss of employment, quite the opposite happens.

When people in the lower middle class and working poor get a raise, they spend that extra money in the economy. That extra money being spent then translates into higher revenues for the businesses and at the same time drives the demand for new hires.

You will hear the argument that- see how high the costs are of everything and that is because of giving people better wages through the years and if we just stop giving these min wage raises, then everything will go down or stay at least the same. LIE- and a big one at that. Since wages for the 98% of the country have been stagnant and the buying power for the middle class has been cut, not made more, and the working poor can’t even afford basic needs-even working full time, its obvious that keeping wages low does not keep prices low.

I live in a state with the second highest min wage in the country and yet my gasoline at the pump is usually lower than in those states with lower min wage. None of my other purchases are any more, either.

The buying power of min wage today is less than what it was in the 60’s, and overall productivity in our country has increased 80% and yet the working poor must work a min of 77 to 88 hours a week to maybe meet basic needs. That is because all of the wealth in our country(90%) for the last decade has gone totally to the top 1%. The CEO’s with their bloated pay and the corporations and elite few that have rigged the tax policies in their favor, scream in outrage when anyone mentions raising the min wage. In fact they will tell you that we need the min wage removed, so as to help all those poor people without jobs.

That doesn’t work. When the people have no money to spend, then the economy does not run. In the worlds wealthiest country it borders on evil that our working poor even working full time, will still be homeless. How does that help anyone? Ford found that when he upped the pay and benefits for his employees, he got better built cars and his employees could now afford to buy one of his cars. Then all the other businesses started seeing more business and that drove the need for new hires. They also, of course, then had to offer better wages and working environment if they wanted to attract new hires and keep them.

Bottom line- our min wage needs to be raised. Its been proven time after time, that it does not affect the economy in a bad way and instead stimulates the economy and leads to fuller employment. Its not just the right thing to do, but the smart thing to do. Our min wage if it had kept up with productivity and the same buying power as in 1968, would be over 15.00 an hour and if it had kept up with the CEO pay, it would be over 25 dollars an hour. Min wage was never meant to be less than poverty level and instead was meant to be the min wage that would enable a worker to be able to work full time and meet basic needs.

Do we really want to be a country with over half of our population either under poverty level-or near poverty level-over 157 million people- or do we want to raise the min wage and lower the amount of people stuck in the grips of poverty.

Merry Christmas Eve

2012 The Awakening

“Following World War II, the U.S. dollar was adopted as the world’s reserve currency against the wishes of the pre-eminent economist John Maynard Keynes,” Joel Benjamin tells me, “cementing the economic and political power of the U.S. Federal Reserve.”

Benjamin works as the local authority manager for the U.K. campaign Move Your Money and is investigating how much public money authorities lost in the financial crisis. Founded in early 2012, Move Your Money — which has parallel groups like this oneoperating in the U.S. — has helped over 2 million people in the U.K. transfer their finances from unethical too-big-to-fail banks to smaller, safer institutions.

The Federal Reserve holds a significant responsibility for the 2008 global crash, Benjamin explains. In particular, Alan Greenspan’s ultra-low interest rate policies — known as the “Greenspan put” — encouraged the housing…

That’s right, the new ‘budget’ is out and already the house has passed and the senate will surely follow. What is touted as the ‘budget’ of compromise, is actually a budget that is more austere than the original Ryan Path to Prosperity, and that is told to we the people, as being very good.

Sure, good for who-should be the question to ask. It surely isn’t good for the long term unemployed, who for their Christmas present, will lose their benefits- it surely isn’t good for the hungry-as the November cuts were not fixed- its not good at all for federal employees who will lose even more of there pension benefits and its not good at all for the VA beneficiary who will also be hit for costs- so who is it good for?

Its good for the austerity and deficit hawks and good for defense(of course their budgets were allowed to be higher) and its good for the corporations and the elite-as their tax rates were not touched and its good for those in congress-as their pensions are not at risk- Is it good for our economy? NO  Is it good for the people? NO Is it good for the hungry, the elderly, the children and the working poor? NO Is it good for our failing infrastructure? NO  Is it good for the unemployed in need of jobs? NO- So Austerity wins and we the people lose, once again.

If they are able to pull off the fast tracking of the two trade agreements, it will finalize the creations of the United Corporations of America and will put an end to democracy. Can we fight this?

YES WE CAN- that means each and everyone of us-telling all we know both online and offline about what is going on in our government and in our country and ensuring that they then become engaged in the process and they also tell everyone. Our voice can be so loud that it will deafen the voice of corporations, but only if we use it.

Peace and may joy, harmony and love surround you.

That’s right, the governor of Maine wants to change the law and allow children as young as 12 be allowed to work. Do you remember when Gingrich in his ‘debate’  proposed that children be allowed to work as janitors in school, so as to teach them how to work? What is wrong in our country that these ‘men and women’ of the GOP(gods of poverty) want to take our country back to the robber baron days and the days of children being worked to death in sweatshops and no protections like min wage for any worker? Why are they so insistent on taking us back, and not forward?

How do we change this? We vote them out of office is the first step and then we ensure that only people that actually want to work for the people and in the 21st century, not in the late 1800’s. These same ‘people’ are trying to get the 17th amendment eliminated and allow for senators and representatives to be chosen by the state government and not by the people. It is easy to see why as then there is no one to stop them from their ultimate goal of destroying our government and enslaving the people for their corporate owners.

So, please make sure that you help all you know to be educated on the issues and who is best suited to lead our country forward and not backward.  Lets make sure that the corporations that so want to turn our country into the United Corporations of American not win. Lets make sure that we stay the United states of America and vote accordingly.

The tea-party fools are at it again. As we have the speaker of the house (Boehner) claiming that after all they have done a good job in the house-and its all the fault of the senate and that president of ours that are the problem, they are busy putting together two bills that threaten the people with continued austerity while upping the coffers for Defense and the large Agriculture corporations. That’s right-they put together a bill to not only eliminate the sequester cuts to defense, but to give even more money than was requested. How do they plan to do that? They want to cut payments to Medicare providers and of course their favorite-they want to change cost of living for SS and VA to what they call the chained cost of living-you know the one that states that those on SS and VA, when faced with higher prices, will just buy a lesser brand or do with less- think eating cat food instead of tuna. They also want to decrease aid to the ‘small farmer’ and increase subsidies to large corporations- all this so that they can give more to defense and large corporations.

We the people are just to do with less and more austerity measures all in the name of greed. How many times will they be able to do this, before the people say no more? Yet the Speaker of the house claims that they are doing their job and are doing all this for the American people? Which people are these that they talk of? Its surely not the elderly, disabled, children or working poor. What better way says ‘love for the people’ than to cut aid to the poor and to the veterans that have fought in the endless wars. I almost forgot what the other bill is-and isn’t. That is the continued unemployment for the long unemployed-of course they say that is no longer needed.

So, just in time for the Christmas holidays and so in the spirit of Christianity-cut aid to the poor and food for the hungry and no money for the unemployed.  What a grand present and just think, we live in the worlds wealthiest country.  Unfortunately in our country, only the wealthy get tax breaks and subsidies and the poor and the disappearing middle class just get less and less. I read that some of the largest corporations are grumbling about their declining sales and wonder why. Gee-do you think it could be because the people have no money to spend?

Merry Christmas from our government to you the people-well anyway, those in government and the ‘people’ (the few elite and large corporations)they serve will enjoy Christmas and the rest of us-well-don’t worry-it will just trickle down to you, if only you give them some more money.

How do we stop this?   Peace and may joy, harmony and love surround you.

This year I celebrated Thanksgiving with my husband at the care home where he lives. The man that runs the home is a very good cook and there are only 5 residents, counting my husband. It was a quite celebration and very important to me, as there is no assurance that next year will be spent this way. My husband is dying and so we take each day as they come.

Still I couldn’t help thinking of what Thanksgiving used to mean, before black Friday and now it seems to include black Thursday. People died yesterday fighting over an X-box of all things. When did greed become such an ingrained part of the Thanksgiving weekend? When did people fight with each other over towels-as they did at a Wal-Mart-or have knock down fights with Taser’s at a mall? What has happened to our country?

I do not par-take of these shopping trips centered around corporate greed, although I must admit that I do all my shopping on-line. Much more peaceful and I can shop in my jammies.

I can only hope that at some time our country will wake up and remember what Thanksgiving is really for-you know a time to celebrate with family and friends and realize our blessings and to be thankful for those blessings.

So-I wish you all peace and hope that you were able to spend your day with loved ones and friends.

Peace and may joy and harmony and love surround you.
