You might want to rethink that comment you are about to post about Ferguson, MO

I found this well worth the time to read and would like to share-

beccyjoy

I, like you, am heartbroken about what happened to Michael Brown, and what’s happened to so many others. I have read the posts, watched the videos, and prayed for justice and peace. It is so sickening that it’s hard to sleep. I have so much to learn about how I should even think about these tragedies and I am choosing to listen rather than express my opinions about most of this issue.

The part I do feel I understand well enough to speak to is the invalidating commentary by my fellow white people.

People of privilege, aka white people, aka my friends and family,

I know you might think your comments are harmless, or maybe you think it is fun to debate or “play the devil’s advocate,” but please keep in mind that in a land not so far away, people…teenagers even, are actually dying over this.

You might mean well…

The Magic Bank Account

Just had to share

Coastcontact

THE MAGIC BANK ACCOUNT

THE AUTHOR IS NOT KNOWN.

IT WAS FOUND IN THE BILLFOLD OF COACH PAUL BEAR BRYANT, ALABAMA, AFTER HE DIED IN 1982

The Magic Bank Account

Imagine that you had won the following *PRIZE* in a contest: Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400 in your private account for your use.  However, this prize has rules:

The set of rules:

1. Everything that you didn’t spend during each day would be taken away from you.

2. You may not simply transfer money into some other account.

3. You may only spend it.

4. Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another $86,400 for that day.

5. The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say, “Game Over!”. It can close the account and you will not receive a new one.

What would you personally do?

You would buy…

LOWEST VOTER TURNOUT SINCE THE 40S

Why? Is it voter apathy or a disconnect with government?  They say the young stayed home and who can blame them. They have been raised on the lie that goverment is the enemy and the trickle down fairytale and have entered the job market during the closest to a major depression since the 30s. They have no hope of a good career job or paying off the college education. Many have given up looking for a job that will enable them to live on their own and accept the cold reality of today’s economy.

Our state had a 69% turnout,  which is still shamefully low. We also had a solid democrat win- the coming challenge is to build a populist movement that captures the young to become involved and engaged in the process. We need to give them hope and we need them to vote. In fact we all need to vote.

I sure wish I knew how to accomplish this, but we have 2 years of probable hell from the disaster of this election to find a way to get people to vote.

DID YOU VOTE YET?

We vote by mail in our state which means that we get the ballots about 3 weeks before they need to be either mailed in or dropped off at a official ballot box. That means that you can take your time reading the issues and the candidates and then you mark the ballot.

I dropped mine and my sons off earlier today. Then I read about so-called mix ups on the electronic ballots in several states  and thought how ignorant that this is the way that most states still vote. Why? Would you not think that making it as easy as possible to vote would be the want of all?

All the mentions of ‘voter fraud’ are just excuses for those in seats of power to try to keep people from voting. That makes our country on par with non-developed countries that discourage voting and or make it very hard and sometimes dangerous. In one of our states they actually advised their ‘militia’ to actively discourage any and all ‘democrat’ voters and urged them to stand close to them and to run their names and see if they have any ‘warrants’. Then we have fox news with their advice to ‘young women’ to just go back to their dating sites and leave the voting for others- We have over 50 thousand registrations in Georgia that have been ‘lost’ and that means those people can not vote- there are several other states- North Carolina and Ohio also purged voters as also in Florida. In Texas they have restricted which ID is acceptable and at the same time also made it very hard to get the ID needed.

Is this the way the wealthiest country in the world is supposed to be? If we no longer have the right and ability to freely and easily vote, we no longer are even a republic, much less a democracy. Yet we admonish other countries that they need to have ‘free voting’ and that they need to be a democracy and yet look at our country.

In the end its up to all of us to either let the corporate takeover of our country continue or we take the time to vote- its really that simple and they count on we the people (anyway the people they don’t like-you know liberals) deciding its too much trouble and anyway what good will it do and not voting.

PROVE THEM WRONG AND VOTE THIS YEAR- MAKE SURE YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS HAVE A WAY TO GET TO VOTE AND HELP IF NEEDED.  VOTE PLEASE
